Sahrawi Republic participates in the ceremony of declaring "Nouakchott, the Capital of Hassaniya Culture"

Nouakchott (Mauritania) February 26, 2024 (SPS) - The Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, witnessed the ceremony of declaring “Nouakchott, Capital of Hassaniya Culture,” organized by the International Union of Hassaniya Writers, under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with the Mauritanian Parliament.

The ceremony was attended by a delegation from the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic led by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Mohamed Ghali Daha, in addition to delegations from the Republic of Algeria and the Republic of Mali.

The Secretary-General of the International Federation of Hassaniya Writers welcomed, in his speech on this occasion, the participating delegations, recalling the relationships of brotherhood, friendship and neighborliness that bind Mauritania and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. He also praised Algeria and its firm fraternal positions in support of just causes, noting the opening of the border crossing linking the two countries and the benefits expected behind this step, which do not stop at the borders of exchanging economic interests, but extend beyond that to creative cultural and intellectual exchange.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Sahrawi Ministry of Culture expressed his pride in attending this demonstration and the brotherhood it represented between the Sahrawi and Mauritanian peoples.

He recalled that the Center of Hassaniya Culture is truly the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, where no other culture competes with Hassaniya culture, due to the uniqueness of the Sahrawi people with its absolute Hassaniya culture.

The Secretary-General, Mr. Mohamed Ghali Daha, noted the importance of making every effort to strengthen this authentic, inclusive culture in order to protect it from threatening dangers.
