Shaheed El-Hafed, April 26, 2024 (SPS) - The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has held the United Nations Security Council fully responsible for implementing the agreement reached between the Sahrawi and Moroccan parties in 1991.

During its fourth ordinary session, the National Secretariat emphasized the responsibility of the Security Council in implementing the agreement between the Sahrawi and Moroccan parties in 1991, in accordance with international legitimacy, United Nations resolutions, and the requirements of international law. It considers this agreement as the legitimate framework for a consensual and peaceful solution, far from the deceptive maneuvers and distortions of facts by the Moroccan occupier, using various arenas, such as the field of sports.

The National Secretariat reaffirms the Polisario Front's commitment to the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, independence, and their right to defend their homeland and resources through all legitimate means of resistance.

The National Secretariat strongly condemns the attempts by the Kingdom of Morocco to evade its signed commitments with the Sahrawi party, relying on forces within and outside the Security Council that hinder the efforts of the international community to decolonize Western Sahara and change the legal status of the last colony in Africa. This is in stark contradiction to the charters and decisions of relevant international and regional organizations and courts.

The National Secretariat encourages the African Union's continental organization to continue its efforts to enforce respect for the constitutional law, especially regarding the rejection of forcible annexation of territories and the principle of respecting internationally recognized borders following independence.
