Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), June 3, 2026 (SPS) – The opening session of the 52nd Ordinary Meeting of the African Union Permanent Representatives Committee commenced on Wednesday at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the participation of representatives of member states and senior officials of the continental organization.
The opening session features addresses by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and the Chair of the Permanent Representatives Committee and Ambassador of Burundi to Ethiopia, Willy Nyamitwe.
During the meeting, participants will discuss issues related to strengthening coordination between African Union institutions and regional organizations as part of ongoing efforts to advance continental integration and development.
The meeting of the Permanent Representatives Committee marks the official launch of preparations for the 8th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting between the African Union, Regional Economic Communities, and Regional Mechanisms, scheduled to take place in Egypt from June 24 to 27.
