Algiers, 14 May 2026 (SPS) – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, and President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço of the Republic of Angola, reaffirmed their commitment to the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
According to a statement published by the Algeria Press Service following the Angolan president’s state visit to Algeria, both sides called for a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution to the question of Western Sahara.
“The two Heads of State reaffirmed their commitment to the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations and the African Union, calling for a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution,” the source stated.
At the regional and continental levels, the two Heads of State also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, security, and stability in Africa by prioritizing African solutions to African problems and rejecting all forms of foreign interference.
