Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) 03 October 2025 (SPS) – The Minister of Foreign and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, condemned attempts to overturn the ruling of the European Court of Justice.

In his remarks at the conclusion of the 22nd meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Africa and the Nordic countries, Mr. Beissat denounced the calls emerging within the European Union aimed at undermining the rulings of the European Court of Justice.

The Minister expressed his astonishment that such attempts are taking place under the presidency of a Nordic country renowned for its respect for the rule of law. He called on Europeans to comply with European law, stressing that the values and principles upheld by European peoples and their political forces are far greater and nobler than any economic agreements tainted by the blood of thousands of martyrs, the disappeared, political detainees, and refugees.

On another note, during the discussions dedicated to multilateral international relations and the reform of the United Nations, the Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Sahrawi Republic’s support for Africa’s common position on UN reform, known as the “Ezulwini Consensus,” which calls for Africa to be granted two permanent seats on the UN Security Council.

He further emphasized that reforms must also strengthen the General Assembly and extend to international financial institutions, international courts, as well as governing bodies of sport, the internet, credit rating agencies, and other international institutions, so that they may reflect humanity in a truly representative, democratic, and pluralistic manner.

Mr. Beissat also strongly condemned the double standards adopted by some international actors who punish occupation and aggression in one part of the world, while rewarding, supporting, and financing occupiers and violators of the law in another.

Strengthening solidarity to complete the decolonization of Western Sahara

For her part, Algeria’s Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ms. Selma Bekhta Mansouri, stressed in her address the need to strengthen solidarity in order to complete the decolonization of Western Sahara.

The Zimbabwean Foreign Minister, Ms. Amos Muroiwa, likewise renewed her country’s unwavering support for the just struggle of the Sahrawi people and their legitimate cause.

The ministerial meeting concluded today after two days of deliberations in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, with the adoption of several documents aimed at consolidating the partnership between African countries and the Nordic states.  (SPS)
