Johannesburg, 26 July 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, affirmed today, Saturday, in Johannesburg, South Africa, that the Sahrawi people, who are struggling for freedom and national independence, will triumph because justice is on their side.
This came in a speech by Mr. Beissat, who represents the Polisario Front at the Summit of Liberation Movements, hosted by Johannesburg, South Africa, over three days starting today, Saturday, at the invitation of the African National Congress (ANC), which holds the general secretariat of the liberation movements.
The Sahrawi diplomat expressed the pride and honor of the militants and officials of the Polisario Front in "belonging to this glorious space of national forces and democracy that fought against colonialism, apartheid, and neocolonialism—forces that defended the dignity of the African people and the independence and sovereignty of our countries over their land and resources."
The Sahrawi minister briefed the summit participants on the latest developments in the Sahrawi people's struggle for freedom and national independence. He condemned colonial forces, accusing them of "maneuvering against the national rights of the Sahrawi people," emphasizing that the Sahrawi people "will triumph because they are fighting, because they are united, and because justice is on their side."
On the sidelines of the summit, Mr. Beissat held several bilateral meetings with representatives of liberation movements in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to inform them of the current situation and explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations with the Polisario Front.
The summit’s proceedings continue with multiple sessions addressing political issues concerning liberation movements worldwide and strategies to confront global challenges for a better and more just world.
