Algiers, June 28, 2025 (SPS) – On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the Algerian daily El Moudjahid prepared a reportage on the struggle of the Sahrawi people, including an interview with the member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Khatri Adouh.
During the interview, Ambassador Khatri Adouh reaffirmed the steadfastness and determination of the Sahrawi people to continue their struggle until they achieve their aspirations for freedom and independence.
The Sahrawi diplomat pointed out in his interview with the French-language newspaper El Moudjahid that the Sahrawi issue remains firmly entrenched on the international agenda as a decolonization matter, firmly established under international law and recognized by international bodies and organizations.
Addressing the role of the United Nations, the ambassador noted with regret that the Polisario Front has observed the UN’s failure to enforce international legitimacy resolutions, despite the clear legal frameworks outlined in the Settlement Plan signed by both the Polisario Front and Morocco in 1991. This plan called for a referendum under UN supervision, leading to the establishment of the MINURSO mission.
Regarding Algerian-Sahrawi relations, the ambassador emphasized that they are deeply rooted in history and built on a shared struggle against colonialism. He stated that Algeria has always stood—and continues to stand—with the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, in line with its consistent positions in support of oppressed peoples' causes.
