Ghanaian political activist reaffirms solidarity with the Sahrawi  Republic

Accra (Ghana) 5 July 2026 (SPS) – Ghanaian journalist and political activist Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Editor of Ghana Insight newspaper, owner of Pan African TV, and General Secretary of the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG), reaffirmed his unwavering solidarity with the struggle of the Sahrawi people, expressing support for the Sahrawi Republic as part of the broader fight against imperialism.

Pratt made these remarks during a lecture delivered yesterday on the sidelines of the celebration of “Kwame Nkrumah First Liberation Day” in Ghana. His presentation focused on the future of Africa, social justice, Pan-Africanism, and the struggle against imperialism and exploitation.

During the lecture, he stressed that Africa's future can only be built through the organization and struggle of its peoples, emphasizing that genuine sovereignty requires African control over the continent's natural resources and the strengthening of Pan-African unity.

Highlighting the importance of international solidarity, Pratt stated that people around the world must stand with nations resisting imperialism, occupation, racism, sanctions, and exploitation, stressing that "solidarity is not charity; solidarity is a weapon of liberation."

He also recalled the vision of Ghana's founding leader, Kwame Nkrumah, who maintained that Ghana's independence would be meaningless without the total liberation of Africa.

Pratt argued that this vision remains relevant today, insisting that Africa cannot achieve genuine freedom while its resources remain under foreign control and while parts of the continent continue to struggle for self-determination and sovereignty. (SPS)
