Lille (France), July 5, 2026 (SPS) – The 40th Congress of the French Communist Party (PCF), held from July 3 to 5 in Lille, reaffirmed its support for the Sahrawi people and their legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, by adopting a political resolution calling for stronger solidarity with the struggle in Western Sahara and action against the exploitation of the Territory's natural resources.
In the section of the resolution devoted to Africa, adopted at the conclusion of the congress, the PCF states that "our solidarity with the Sahrawi people is expressed through support for the Polisario Front and by exerting pressure on companies plundering the resources of the occupied territories."
A Polisario Front delegation, led by Mohamed Ali Zerouali, the Polisario Front Representative in France, participated in the congress alongside international delegations. Their participation helped strengthen cooperation with the French Communist Party and provided an opportunity to continue exchanges with political parties and movements in solidarity with the Sahrawi cause.
The adoption of the resolution represents a renewed expression of the French Communist Party's support for the Sahrawi people's inalienable right to self-determination and independence, while also calling for intensified solidarity efforts in response to the continued Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
