Bir Lehlou (Sahrawi Republic), February 26, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirmed his country’s firm position on the Sahrawi cause, stating that Algeria’s support for the Sahrawi people stems from a deep-rooted conviction in the justice of their cause.
In a message addressed to the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic, the Algerian President stressed that the declaration of the Sahrawi state is an occasion to recall the resilience and sacrifices of the Sahrawi people and their steadfast commitment to their legitimate right to freedom and self-determination.
In his message, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune added that despite the magnitude of the challenges and the complexity of the circumstances, the Sahrawi people have demonstrated their ability to endure and to achieve political and diplomatic gains, thanks to their national unity behind their leadership represented by the Polisario Front. He noted that Algeria follows this heroic resilience with great appreciation.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reiterated that supporting the Sahrawi cause reflects a historical commitment to the principles of justice and international legality.
