Barcelona (Spain), September 26, 2026 (SPS) – Against the backdrop of growing international solidarity with the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination and independence, the Spanish town of Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, hosted a political lecture yesterday, Friday, on the Sahrawi people's struggle for sovereignty under the title, “Western Sahara: The Right to Self-Determination in the Face of Oblivion.”
The lecture, delivered by the Polisario Front Representative in Catalonia, Mohamed Salem Ahmed Laabied, together with David Minoves i Llucià, President of the International Center for Ethnic Minorities and Nations (CIEMEN), addressed the legal and political dimensions of the Western Sahara issue and the need for international action to counter attempts to erase the issue from public attention.
Meanwhile, in Brussels, a seminar held at the Centre Culturel d’Expression et de Créativité under the title “Rehabilitating International Law: The Cases of Palestine and Western Sahara” highlighted the role of international law and peoples’ right to self-determination, focusing on the cases of Palestine and Western Sahara.
In Brazil, an event entitled “The Anti-Imperialist Struggle and the Role of Youth in the Revolution” was held at the Faculty of Education of the University of Brasília. It was attended by the Polisario Front Representative in Brazil, Ahmed Moulay Ali, who delivered a presentation on the struggle of Sahrawi youth for freedom and independence.
