Shaheed El-Hafed, 1 February 2026 (SPS) – At the headquarters of the Sahrawi Union of Writers and Journalists, a book entitled “The Impact of the Spanish Language on the Sahrawi Dialect” by the Sahrawi writer Marouf Badda Abdelrahman was presented Sunday.
The book contains 300 Spanish words used in the Hassaniya dialect, commonly employed by Sahrawis in various aspects of daily life, which entered the Hassaniya dialect through different historical periods.
During the presentation, the author stressed the importance of the book as a cultural legacy, an archive of collective memory, and a symbol of identity.
The author also spoke about the book’s importance for foreigners who visit the Sahrawi refugee camps, as it facilitates communication, as well as for the Sahrawi diaspora.
Following the presentation, the floor was opened for interventions, during which participants praised the work and commended the author’s efforts, highlighting the book’s cultural and historical significance.
At the conclusion of the event, copies of the book were presented to the Memory and Media Archive Committee and to the Institute of Research and Studies of the Secretariat of Political Organization.
The book presentation was attended by journalists, writers, intellectuals, and directors of media outlets.
