Johannesburg (South Africa), 27 January 2026 (SPS) – A Sahrawi women’s delegation is taking part in the continental technical meeting organized by the African Women’s Dialogue organization, hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 24 to 27 January.

During the meeting, the Sahrawi delegation—led by National Secretariat member Ms. Fatma Mehdi—delivered interventions highlighting the importance of raising awareness about women’s issues and the suffering they endure, particularly women affected by war, displacement, and occupation. The aim is to exchange experiences and best practices among different women’s groups and to deepen their expertise through training programs.

The Sahrawi delegation also emphasized the importance of solidarity and awareness-raising around issues of liberation, peace, and women’s rights—especially the right of peoples to self-determination and respect for borders inherited from the colonial era—alongside encouraging women’s skills and organizing exhibitions for cultural exchange.
