Ceremony in tribute to leader Mustafa Mohamed Ali Sidi Bashir

Shaheed El Hafed, 04 January 2026 (SPS) – The Presidency of the Republic organized on Sunday a funeral ceremony in tribute to the martyr, the late Mustafa Mohamed Ali Sidi Bashir, Minister of the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad, who passed away on Friday after a long battle with illness.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, Brahim Ghali, members of the National Secretariat of the POLISARIO Front, the government, the National Council, representatives of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army, representatives of Sahrawi civil society, as well as the family of the deceased.

The President of the Republic praised the qualities of the deceased, his dedication to work in various fields, and his constant concern for the national unity of the Sahrawi people.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, the commander of the First Military Region, Ahmed Lehbib Abdi, highlighted the virtues and qualities of the late Mustafa Mohamed Ali, praising his contributions throughout a career full of achievements in the various positions he held, particularly in the military field.

His passing, he said, represents a loss for the Sahrawi people of one of its best men, sincere and loyal to his homeland. He recalled that the deceased held several positions of responsibility within the POLISARIO Front and the Sahrawi State, the most recent being Minister of the Interior and then Minister of Affairs of the Occupied Territories and Communities.

Other speakers also paid heartfelt tribute to the deceased, testifying to his sense of responsibility and patience in carrying out the duties and responsibilities entrusted to him.
