Shaheed El-Hafed, August 6, 2025 (SPS) - After a period away from the spotlight, Sahrawi artist Nadira Obeid Louacha returns to the screen with her leading role in the new film, Nomad Shadow," directed by Japanese-American filmmaker Eimi Imanishi.

The film explores the drama of occupation in Western Sahara from a profound human perspective, moving beyond superficial narratives to intimately and authentically portray the silent struggles of thousands of Sahrawis.

The story follows Mariam, a young woman who returns from Spain to her occupied homeland, confronting not only the loss of her roots but also the imposed expectations on her future and identity. With a deeply humanistic approach, Nomad Shadow reveals an unsettling truth: behind the geopolitical conflict lies a people—families and entire generations—struggling to rebuild themselves amid oblivion.

A collaborative project, the film features contributions from the Sahrawi Ministry of Culture, providing actors and technicians, alongside talent from Spain, France, and the U.S. Algerian production company Molga Films also participated in its production.

Filming took place last year across various Algerian cities.
