Boumerdès, 6 August 2025 (SPS) – Political and international relations experts affirmed Tuesday during the summer university sessions for Polisario Front executives at the University of Boumerdès, that the fate of the Sahrawi cause and its future are tied to its people and their will to fight for liberation.
In this context, Professor Oussama Bouchmakh, a professor of political science and international relations at Tissemsilt University, said that the Sahrawi cause “has made strides in the path of liberation and has become tied to its people and their aspirations” for freedom from the Moroccan occupation.
He pointed out that the world is currently undergoing geopolitical transformations that the Sahrawis must exploit to serve their cause.
In his own intervention, Dr. Ben Sghir Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Boudouaou, Boumerdès University, affirmed that the Western Sahara issue is at a “decisive turning point,” especially with the current geopolitical developments and changes in the world. He emphasized the importance of effectively leveraging and adapting to these changes by blending military and diplomatic action until gains are achieved and Western Sahara gains complete independence.
For his part, Dr. Karim Rghouli from the Faculty of Law at Sétif University stressed in his intervention the importance of joint action among all parties concerned with resolving conflicts in the African continent, including the Western Sahara issue. This should be done by taking into account the security challenges and global political interactions imposed on the region, with the aim of a comprehensive solution to all security and peace issues in the region as a whole.
All speakers on the third day of the summer university agreed that the Moroccan regime has no notable right to the land of Western Sahara, considering the Sahrawi issue a matter of decolonization.
The summer university, which began last Sunday at the M'hamed Bouguerra University in Boumerdès, will continue until August 13 and includes the participation of more than 400 Polisario Front executives.
