Military parade marks National Army Day and 52nd Anniversary of Armed Struggle, highlighting readiness of Sahrawi army

Shaheed El-Hafed, May 20, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi People's Liberation Army conducted today,Tuesday, a military parade in commemoration of National Army Day and the 52nd anniversary of the outbreak of the armed struggle. The event took place at the rear base of the 7th Military Region.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mr. Brahim Ghali, along with members of the National Secretariat, the government, the General Staff of the Army, and military officials from various regions and specialized units.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, Mohamed Lamine Mohamed Ahmed, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the occasion for the Sahrawi people (National Army Day and the 52nd Anniversary of the Armed Struggle). He stressed that 52 years of armed struggle demonstrate the bravery of Sahrawi resistance in the fight to fully restore national sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahrawi Republic.

The Secretary-General also highlighted the remarkable achievements made by the Sahrawi state throughout its national struggle, reaffirming the Sahrawi people's determination to continue their fight until victory is achieved.

the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mr. Brahim Ghali, inspected the participating units before giving the order for the parade to commence.

The parade featured units from all seven military regions, the military rear, specialized formations, and elite units, alongside displays of military equipment.

Held on the anniversary of the outbreak of the armed struggle on May 20, 1973, the parade aimed to showcase combat readiness and keep pace with modern military developments, especially amid the ongoing war and escalating conflict with the enemy.
