
Algiers, May 2, 2025 (SPS) – Algeria and Ghana has reiterated their support for a just political solution that guarantees the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.
In a joint statement issued after the official visit of Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs to Algeria, the two sides reviewed "joint efforts to combat terrorism and transnational crime" and agreed to "strengthen cooperation in addressing violent extremism, radicalization, and the smuggling of drugs and weapons."
Regarding the issue of Western Sahara, both parties emphasized "the necessity of reaching a political solution based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions, the principles of the UN Charter, and the constitutive act of the African Union, ensuring the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination."
In the same context, the two sides affirmed their commitment to the principles of African solutions to African problems, prioritizing dialogue and reconciliation to resolve conflicts, and fostering long-term partnerships in key sectors.
