Occupied El Aaiún, 25 October 2026 (SPS) – Sahrawi civilian prisoner Abdallah Lakhfaouni, a member of the Gdeim Izik group, staged a 48-hour warning hunger strike on 24 and 25 October at Kenitra Prison in Morocco, according to the Sahrawi Prisoners Protection League in Moroccan Prisons.

The League said it received the information from the prisoner's family, who reported that the protest was prompted by alleged mistreatment and the denial of basic rights, particularly access to education, outdoor exercise, medical care and treatment.

Lakhfaouni's family expressed deep concern for his safety, fearing possible reprisals by the prison administration amid heightened surveillance. They called on international organisations and human rights advocates to intervene to end his suffering and that of other Sahrawi civilian prisoners.
