Occupied El Aaiun, November 8, 2026 (SPS) – The Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons has expressed concern over the fate and safety of Sahrawi civilian prisoner Mohamed Lemrabt, a member of the “October 12 Group,” after his family lost contact with him on November 2.

The association said the prolonged interruption of communication, without any official explanation or information about his whereabouts, raises serious concerns about his physical and psychological well-being and his right to maintain contact with his family.

It called on the Moroccan occupying authorities to immediately disclose his whereabouts and detention conditions, provide his family with reliable information, and guarantee his protection against torture, ill-treatment and enforced disappearance.

The association also urged UN human rights mechanisms, including the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, to increase pressure on Morocco to respect international law and ensure the protection of Sahrawi civilian prisoners.
