Accra (Ghana), 3 November 2026 (SPS) – The General Union of Sahrawi Workers (UGTSARIO) is participating in the conference of the Women's Committee of the African Trade Union Unity Organization, held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, under the theme “Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities in the Era of Digitalisation and Technological Development,” at the invitation of the organization.
The Sahrawi delegation is represented by Ms. Rabab Hassana, in charge of the Department for Women's Advancement and Economic Empowerment. The participation provides an opportunity to present the experience of Sahrawi women in trade union work and economic empowerment, while highlighting the challenges they face under conditions of exile and their contributions to building national institutions and strengthening the resilience of Sahrawi society.
This participation forms part of the General Union of Sahrawi Workers' efforts to strengthen its relations with African trade union organizations, expand cooperation and coordination, defend the rights of working women, and promote their participation in decision-making and access to opportunities arising from digital and technological transformation.
