Ambassador to Botswana passes away

Shaheed El-Hafed, August 30, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Ambassador to Botswana, Mr. El-Hiba Abbas, passed away today, Sunday, following a recent illness.

The late diplomat was one of the most prominent Sahrawi diplomats who defended the Sahrawi cause in regional and international forums.

He held several positions and responsibilities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, most recently serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Botswana, a position he held until his passing.
