Moscow (Russia), April 28, 2026 (SPS) – A Sahrawi delegation, headed on Tuesday by Mohamed Yeslem Beissat in his capacity as deputy chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polisario Front, met with a Russian delegation led by Alexander Nikolaevich, a member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and a leading figure in the A Just Russia – For Truth faction.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the international forum, focused on the struggle of the Sahrawi people against colonialism and Moroccan occupation, as well as Russia’s historical positions, particularly during deliberations at the United Nations Security Council.
The head of the Sahrawi delegation thanked the party for its honorable stance on the Sahrawi issue and for inviting the Polisario Front to attend the forum. He also expressed the Sahrawi side’s satisfaction with the Russian Federation’s position supporting international legitimacy and the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
In the same context, the Sahrawi official praised the initiative to establish the Sovintern International Forum, supervised by the A Just Russia Party, stressing the need to broaden participation to include all progressive forces and movements opposed to colonialism in all its forms, while excluding parties aligned with colonialism and repressive regimes.
For its part, the party thanked the Sahrawi delegation for its participation and expressed its readiness to continue working to support peoples in their struggle against colonialism and foreign intervention.
The party also expressed its willingness to cooperate with the Polisario Front to achieve the objectives of the Sovintern Forum and expand it to include a greater number of progressive political parties, especially in Africa.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Sahrawi delegation extended an invitation to the Russian party to visit the Sahrawi refugee camps and institutions of the Sahrawi state to gain firsthand insight into the Sahrawi people’s struggle for freedom and independence.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Salem Mohamed Fadel, representative of the Polisario Front in the Russian Federation, and Saleh Nafea, Director of the Sahrawi News Agency.
The “A Just Russia” Party is one of the five parliamentary parties in the Russian Federation, ranking third in terms of the number of seats in the State Duma (the Russian parliament), and maintains strong relations with numerous countries and movements opposed to colonialism and Western dominance.
