Shaheed El-Hafed, April 16, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front has reaffirmed that a final and just solution to the conflict must be fundamentally based on guaranteeing the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.
In his speech while presiding over the opening of the 9th ordinary session of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, he stressed that since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, efforts have continued to accelerate reaching a solution to the Moroccan-Sahrawi conflict, including organizing high-level meetings between the two parties to the conflict in the presence of the two observer countries.
He noted in this regard the engagement of the Sahrawi side in these talks in good faith and its sincere desire to ensure the success of these efforts, while always emphasizing that a just, final, and lasting solution must be based on clear and necessary foundations. These include not only being acceptable and agreed upon by both parties to the conflict, but also guaranteeing the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence, and ensuring the exercise of that right through a free and democratic process in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly.
