Nairobi (Kenya), June 22, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali Sidi El Bachir, participated today, Monday, in the official celebrations marking the 63rd anniversary of Africa Day, held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, alongside heads and representatives of African and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Kenya.
This year’s celebration, organized at the residence of the Egyptian Ambassador, was attended by Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, as the guest of honor. In his remarks, he called for greater African solidarity, praised regional integration efforts, and highlighted the African Union’s 2026 theme, which prioritizes sustainable water systems and safe sanitation across the continent.
The participation of the Sahrawi delegation, led by Ambassador Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali Sidi El Bachir, provided an opportunity to reaffirm the Sahrawi Republic’s steadfast commitment to the principles of African unity and solidarity among African peoples. It also underscored the pivotal role played by Africa in embracing and defending the Sahrawi cause in continental and international forums, as well as its consistent advocacy for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence.
It is worth noting that the Sahrawi Embassy organized a cultural exhibition on the sidelines of the celebration. The exhibition was visited by the guest of honor, the Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary, as well as numerous ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions participating in the event.
During the discussions that followed the lecture, participants stressed the importance of unifying efforts among various stakeholders and strengthening institutional action in order to enhance advocacy and raise international awareness of the Sahrawi cause, in support of the Sahrawi people's objectives and their right to self-determination.
