Shaheed El-Hafed, 03 December 2025 (SPS) – The Polisario Front’s representative to the United Nations and coordinator with MINURSO, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, affirmed that the Polisario Front has not yet received any official invitation to resume negotiations with the occupying state.

Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, in a statement to the Algerian Press Agency (APS), confirmed that the Polisario Front has not received any official invitation to restart negotiations with the occupying state, stressing that the solution remains in the hands of the United Nations and in accordance with its Charter, as it is the body exclusively mandated to oversee the peace process.

He also pointed out that the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, confirmed during his meeting with the Sahrawi President and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, on the sidelines of the recent African Union–European Union Summit in Angola, that the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, will continue his contacts with both parties as soon as possible with the aim of launching negotiations “without preconditions” and within the exclusive framework defined by the UN and its Charter.
