Shaheed El Hafed, 5 October 2025 (SPS) - The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training on Sunday highlighted the free and compulsory nature of education in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

In a statement issued on the occasion of Teachers' Day, the Ministry stated that the Sahrawi Government has established free and compulsory education as a strategic policy to ensure development and progress, focusing on investment in human capital.

The literacy rate among Sahrawis is around 96%, placing our country above other North African countries. This is a substantial achievement despite the difficult conditions of exile and the lack of means.

Over time, the Sahrawi state has been promoting, building, and developing the Sahrawi educational system based on preparing and training new generations with spirit and determination over these more than four decades.

Education in the SADR is free, compulsory, and bilingual.

The Sahrawi State will continue to train new generations for the reconstruction of the new sovereign Sahrawi state.
