President of Republic calls for climate justice, equitable funding for African continent

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) September 08, 2025 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Sewcretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, in his speech before the second African Climate Summit held today, Monday, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, called for achieving climate justice that ensures a fair and equitable distribution of resources allocated to confront climate change.

President Brahim Ghali stated that "the convening of this summit represents an important milestone in Africa's path towards climate justice and sustainable development," noting that the African continent "despite its minimal contribution to global emissions, remains the most affected by the impacts of climate change, which necessitates that we all unite efforts to ensure a fair benefit from the resources allocated to address these challenges, through equitable and transparent financing mechanisms."

On the other hand, the Sahrawi President affirmed the commitment of the Sahrawi Republic to support the outcomes of the summit and to contribute effectively to building a green and prosperous Africa.

The Sahrawi President had arrived in Addis Ababa, on Saturday, heading a high-level delegation that included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, the Minister of Water and Environment, Mr. Adda Brahim Ahmim, and Presidential Advisors Mr. Abdati Brieka, and Ms. Nanna Labat Rashid.
