
Mexico, August 8, 2025 (SPS) – The Mexican Association of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People celebrated the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, marking the occasion with renewed commitment to the Sahrawi people’s legitimate right to freedom and self-determination.
To commemorate this milestone, the Association, in collaboration with the Sahrawi Embassy in Mexico, organized a month-long series of events highlighting the historical ties between Mexico and the Sahrawi Republic, emphasizing the solidarity that unites both peoples and nations.
During the celebrations, Sahrawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar was honored for dedicating her life to the struggle for her people’s freedom and independence.
The Sahrawi Ambassador to Mexico, MuKhtar Lahbib, expressed gratitude to the Association and Mexican women who have devoted significant parts of their lives to raising awareness about the Sahrawi people’s plight and advocating for their rights in Mexico.
The Sahrawi diplomat also paid tribute to the struggles of Sahrawi women under occupation, acknowledging their sacrifices in the face of the occupier’s arrogance and brutality.
