Berlin (Germany), June 29, 2025 (SPS) – At the invitation of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD), a Sahrawi delegation attended the party’s Congress held in Berlin from June 27 to 29, 2025.
The event saw broad participation from party delegates across various German states, as well as representatives from trade unions, youth organizations, and women’s groups, alongside international guests from allied political parties.
The Polisario Front was represented at this significant political gathering by Ms. Najat Handi, the Front’s representative in Germany.
This participation comes within the framework of the historical ties between the Polisario Front and the SPD, rooted in shared values of solidarity, freedom, self-determination, and social justice.
The Congress provided an opportunity to engage with the party’s leadership and structures, briefing them on the latest developments in the Sahrawi cause and ongoing efforts at national, regional, and international levels.
Discussions also covered prospects for future cooperation between the Polisario Front and the SPD, including its trade union, youth, and women’s wings.
On the sidelines of the Congress, Ms. Najat Handi held several bilateral meetings with SPD members of the German Bundestag, trade union leaders, representatives of the Young Socialists (JUSOS), the Die Falken organization, and Socialist Women.
These meetings served as a platform to present updates on the Sahrawi issue, exchange views on strengthening bilateral relations, and advancing solidarity initiatives in support of the just Sahrawi cause.
