Documentary on struggle of Sahrawi people screened in London

London (UK), June 20, 2025 (SPS) – A major cinema hall in the British capital, London, hosted the screening of a documentary about the life of the late Sahrawi artist and activist Mariam Hassan. The film highlights the struggle of the Sahrawi people since the end of Spanish colonial rule, through the Moroccan invasion, and up to their ongoing fight for self-determination.

The screening was attended by a large audience from various segments of British society, including writers, lawyers, and human rights activists, reflecting the growing international interest in the Sahrawi cause and demonstrating solidarity with the people of Western Sahara.

Following the screening, a panel discussion was held, featuring prominent figures from the solidarity movement. Among them were the chair of Sandblast, representatives from the Western Sahara Campaign UK, and British writer Sam Berkson, author of an English-language book on Hassani poetry.
