Nouakchott (Mauritania), June 2, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi community in Mauritania received on Sunday a Sahrawi delegation led by the member of the National Secretariat, President of the National Council, Mr. Hamma Salama, as the representative of the President of the Republic.
The meeting served as an opportunity to inform the Sahrawi community in Mauritania about the latest developments in the Sahrawi cause.
The President of the National Council affirmed that the Sahrawi people derive the legitimacy of their struggle from the justice of their cause, international and UN recognition of their right to self-determination and independence, and the presence of a United Nations mission for a referendum in Western Sahara.
He emphasized the community's role in maintaining continuous communication with political parties and all segments of Mauritanian society to garner support and stand in solidarity with the just cause for which the Sahrawi people are fighting.
It is worth noting that the President of the National Council, Mr. Hamma Salama, is on an official visit to Mauritania as an envoy of the President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali. He was received in an official reception by Mauritanian President Mr. Mohamed Ould Sheikh El-Ghazouani at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott.
