Shaheed El-Hafed, May 24, 2025 (SPS) – Participants in the sixth General Assembly of the Sahrawi Journalists, Writers, and Artists Union (UPES) elected a new leadership for the union today, Saturday.
In this context, the assembly elected Mr. Mohamed Taki Mohamed (Talehi) as the new Secretary-General, succeeding the former Secretary-General Nafei Ahmed Mohamed, who was elected in April as Secretary-General of the Workers' Union.
The election went to a second round between Talhi and Bashir Brahim Salem Deif.
Additionally, an executive bureau for the UPES was elected, including the following members: Fatimatu Mohamed Abdallah, Mustafa Mohamed Mahmoud Akah, Khadijetu Mahmoud Manno, Fadel Salama Hamadi, Mohamed Ahmed Badi, Hasna Abdelaziz Abeidi.
The proceedings included a solidarity stand in support of the international campaign for the release of Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan jails.
