Organization of rally to support Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik in Spanish capital

Madrid (Spain), March 12, 2016 (SPA) - Thousands of people from various Spanish cities organize Saturday in Madrid, Spanish, a rally in support of Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik who have been on unlimited hunger strike since the first of March.

 

In a statement issued on the occasion, the signatories demanded the immediate release of the group, condemning the sentences issued against them and all political trials against the Sahrawi population by the Moroccan authorities of occupation.

 

Western Sahara: Italian Parliament Friendship Intergroup on same wavelength as Algeria

Rome (Italy), 11 March 2016 (SPS) - Italian Parliament Intergroup for Friendship with Western Sahara People said it is "on the same wavelength" as Algeria, wishing a quick solution to Saharawi, and which, it stressed, is incumbent on the United Nations.

 

"The Parliament Intergroup that I chair is on the same wavelength as Algeria, which is a neighbour of the two parties to the conflict, in supporting a solution based on self-determination of Western Sahara people," Stefano Vaccari has stressed.

 

Ban's visit to Western Sahara: Morocco under international isolation

Madrid, 11 March 2016 (SPS) - Morocco is under international isolation and its positions are contrary to international legality and peoples' rights to self-determination, the representative of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to Spain, Khira Bulahi, said Thursday.

 

Morocco is in an unenviable situation, the Saharawi official told APS in response to Moroccan government's latest statements regarding United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

 

Morocco's accusations against Ban Ki-moon, "mark of panics"

Brussels, 11 March 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi Minister Delegate for Europe Mohamed Sidati said Thursday in Brussels that Morocco's attack on the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is a sign of panic from Rabat, which has taken every action possible, over the past years, to undermine UN efforts to settle Western Sahara issue.

 

Morocco's accusations against the UN chief clearly show the "nervousness of Moroccan authorities which has resorted, once again, to pressure and blackmail," Sidati told APS.

Algiers, March 10, 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi Coordinator to Minurso, Mohammed Kheddad, said Wednesday in Algiers that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's latest trip to the region has shown "what the international community has been proclaiming for years."

 

Kheddad stressed that "Western Sahara conflict is a decolonization issue and Morocco's alleged sovereignty over this territory has been rejected through all the resolutions issued by the international legality."

 

UN SG visit to bring Security Council to reconsider Western Sahara issue

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), 6 March 2016 (SPS) - The Polisario Front representative to the United Nations Ahmed Boukhari said that the visit of UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to the liberated territories of Western Sahara and the refugee camps will bring the Security Council to reconsider the Sahrawi question, noting that "the future strategic vision will support this cause."

Shahid El Hafed (Refugee Camps), 6 March 2016 (SPS) - The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon held Saturday, in Shahid el Hafed, talks with the President of the Saharwi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Mohamed Abdelaziz, also Secretary General of the Polisario Front, legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people, fighting against the Moroccan occupier for their independence. The talks to which also took part the officials of the Polisario Front took place at the headquarters of SADR’s presidency.

Shahid El-Hafed (Refugee Camps), 6 March 2016 (SPS) - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived Saturday in Shahid El-Hafed, the second stage of his visit to Saharawi refugee camps after Smara. Ban Ki-moon was welcomed upon his arrival in Shahid El-Hafed by Saharawi Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar, before being received, for high-level discussions, with President of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Mohamed Abdelaziz, also secretary-general of the Polisario Front.
