
Nairobi (Kenya), May 13, 2025 (SPS) - The First International Ground Handling Conference (IGHC) organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Africa for 2025 commenced Tuesday in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, with the participation of the Sahrawi Republic alongside several member states of the African Union.
This event is the first of its kind to be held on the African continent, organized jointly by IATA and Kenya Airways, aimed at showcasing the continent's growing capabilities in civil aviation and ground handling.
The conference features high-level participation from aviation sector leaders, including Kenyan President William Ruto, IATA Director General Willie Walsh, and CEO of Kenya Airways Allan Kilavuka.
The conference gathers about 1,200 delegates representing a wide range of stakeholders from more than 100 member airlines, including airports, ground service providers, and manufacturers.
Representing the Sahrawi Republic at this international event is the accredited ambassador to the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Mohamed Lemam Mohamed Ali Sid El-Bachir, who participates alongside members of the diplomatic corps and official delegations attending this historic event.
