Algiers, August 23, 2026 (SPS) – The Amal Algeria Gathering Party (TAJ) has renewed its solidarity with and support for the Sahrawi people and its cause during a speech delivered by the party’s president, Fatima Zahra Zerouati, at a historical seminar organized by the party in Algiers to commemorate the anniversary of the Constantine Offensive and the Soummam Congress.
Ms. Zerouati reaffirmed Algeria’s firm and unwavering position in support of peoples’ right to self-determination, foremost among them the Sahrawi and Palestinian causes. She stressed that Algeria will continue to defend its principled positions on just causes around the world.
For his part, Sahrawi National Secretariat member and Ambassador to Algeria Khatri Addouh praised Algeria’s steadfast position in defending just causes, noting that history has recorded Algeria’s consistent support for peoples and their right to freedom and self-determination.
Ambassador Khatri Addouh said that Algeria’s positions are grounded in truth, justice, legitimacy and respect, stressing that the Sahrawi people will remain faithful to its principles and values and will continue its struggle to achieve its aspirations for freedom and independence.
The ambassador also addressed Morocco’s policies in the region, particularly its attempts to alter and falsify the history of the countries of the region, while pursuing a policy of expansion and regional ambitions that disregard historical facts and the requirements of international legitimacy.
He added that these policies are aimed at serving foreign interests and agendas and do not contribute to achieving stability and security in the region.
