Florence (Italy), August 8, 2026 (SPS) – The Italian city of Florence welcomed a group of Sahrawi children participating in the Vacations in Peace program.
The children held meetings with city authorities, which were marked by expressions of solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
Another meeting brought the Sahrawi children together with the Archbishop of Florence and was characterized by dialogue and a commitment to supporting the Sahrawi cause and the values of peace.
During the meeting, the representative of the Polisario Front in Tuscany stressed the importance of the Vacations in Peace summer program, noting that welcoming Sahrawi children in Italy is not only a highly important humanitarian initiative, but also a key tool for raising awareness among Italian public opinion and institutions about the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
The Vacations in Peace summer program is one of the most prominent solidarity initiatives organized by the Italian solidarity movement with the Sahrawi people for more than forty years.
