Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs received by President of Namibia

Windhoek (Namibia), June 28, 2026 (SPS) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, was received by the President of Namibia, H.E. Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Windhoek.

During the meeting, the Minister delivered a written message from the President of the Sahrawi Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali. He also conveyed President Ghali's greetings to the Government and people of Namibia.

Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat expressed his gratitude to President Nandi-Ndaitwah and the Namibian people for their continued solidarity and steadfast support for the Sahrawi people's struggle for self-determination.

For her part, President Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed Namibia's unwavering support for justice and the right to self-determination. She noted that Namibia fully understands the importance of exercising this fundamental right, having endured great hardships and challenges during its own struggle for independence.

She added: "Just as Namibia benefited from multilateral engagement and international solidarity during its liberation struggle, it sincerely hopes that the Sahrawi Republic will likewise benefit from the same international process."

The Namibian President also called on the United Nations to continue playing its central role in seeking a peaceful and lasting solution to the Sahrawi issue, urging the international community to support the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

The meeting was attended by the Sahrawi Ambassador to Angola and Namibia, Mr. Hamdi El Khalil Mayara.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs Mohamed Yeslem Beissat is currently undertaking a tour of several friendly and sisterly countries. As part of this mission, he has already visited Mozambique and Angola, carrying messages of solidarity and cooperation from the President of the Sahrawi Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, to his counterparts.
