Potsdam (Germany), 21 June 2026 (SPS) – A delegation from the Polisario Front Representation in Germany has participated in the proceedings of the 10th Congress of Germany’s Die Linke (The Left Party), held in the city of Potsdam over the weekend, with broad participation from left-wing and progressive parties and organizations from around the world.

The Sahrawi delegation, led by the Polisario Front’s representative in Germany, Ambassador Mohamed El-Mamoun Ahmed, held distinguished meetings with the leadership of the host party, which maintains longstanding historical relations with the Polisario Front. The delegation also conducted extensive discussions with foreign delegations attending the congress, particularly representatives of sister parties from Kenya, Tanzania, Spain, Portugal, Iran, Turkey, and Estonia.

The Sahrawi delegation further met with the party’s youth and student organizations, as well as the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, the party’s political and intellectual arm, as part of efforts to strengthen relations with progressive partners in Germany.

The participation of the Sahrawi delegation in this political gathering represents another step in enhancing the diplomatic and political presence of the Sahrawi cause on the German stage. The congress is expected to issue a solidarity recommendation reaffirming the party’s support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence, their full sovereignty over their natural resources, and condemning the Moroccan policy of imposing a fait accompli in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

It is worth noting that, on the sidelines of the 10th Congress of Die Linke, Member of the European Parliament Martin Günther organized an exhibition in solidarity with the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their just cause. The exhibition attracted considerable interest from congress delegates and international guests, providing an additional platform to raise awareness about the legitimacy of the Sahrawi cause and to help break the media and political blockade surrounding the Moroccan military occupation in Western Sahara.
