Sahrawi human rights defender Aminatou Haidar arrives in Stockholm to raise awareness about Sahrawi cause, Moroccan occupation violations

Stockholm, 21 May 2026 (SPS) – Sahrawi human rights defender Aminatou Haidar has arrived in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, as part of a visit aimed at conducting a series of awareness-raising activities on the Sahrawi cause and highlighting the human rights violations committed by the Moroccan occupation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

This visit comes within the framework of efforts to broaden international solidarity with the Sahrawi people and to raise awareness about their suffering under the Moroccan occupation.

During the visit, the Sahrawi activist is expected to hold meetings with political, human rights, and civil society actors, in addition to participating in seminars and media events addressing recent developments in the Sahrawi issue, the humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied territories, as well as the obstacles facing the decolonization process of Africa’s last colony.
