Bir Lehlou (Sahrawi Republic), 20 May 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic , Secretary-General of POLISARIO Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, sent Wednesday a congratulatory letter to his Timor-Leste's counterpart on the occasion of his country's 24th Anniversary of the restoration of Independence.

Your Excellency,
On the occasion of the 24th Anniversary of the Independence Restoration Day of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (DRTL), I wish, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Government and the people of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), to extend our sincere and warm congratulations to Your Excellency, the Government, and the brotherly people of Timor-Leste on this glorious anniversary.
The central theme for this year’s commemorations, “Together We Will Build a Homeland That Is Increasingly Just, Inclusive, and Resilient,” reflects the noble aspirations of the Timorese people and serves as an inspiration to all nations striving for justice and sovereignty.
I also wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency, the Government, and the people of Timor-Leste on the occasion of your esteemed country recent regional integration marking a step towards Southeast Asian Cooperation, which brings economic and Diplomatic gains.
As the nation marks its 24th Anniversary of Independence restoration, it celebrates achievements in democracy, stability, and global engagement.
This moment provides an opportunity to reaffirm our deep satisfaction with the level of relations between our two countries, as well as the enduring ties of brotherhood and solidarity rooted in our shared history of struggle and resistance in exercising the right of self-determination and national sovereignty.
Furthermore, I wish to reiterate our sincere will and desire to continue working closely with Your Excellency to strengthen these bonds, serving the common interests of our two brotherly countries and peoples.
We proudly acknowledge and commend Your Excellency’s personal commitment to defending the Saharawi just cause, as well as the consensus in Timor-Leste on the right of the Saharawi people to freely exercise their right to self-determination and full sovereignty over the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
