Berlin (Germany), April 16, 2026 (SPS) – The Namibian Ambassador to Germany, Dr. Jerobeam Shaanika, received today, Thursday, the Polisario Front’s representative in Germany, Ambassador Mohamed El-Mamoun Ahmed Ibrahim, as part of a diplomatic meeting dedicated to discussing developments in Western Sahara.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest political developments in the region and across the African continent, and exchanged views on ways to support international efforts aimed at finding a just and lasting solution to the Sahrawi issue, in line with relevant international legitimacy resolutions and ensuring the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

In this context, Ambassador Shaanika reaffirmed Namibia’s firm and supportive position regarding the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, stressing his country’s principled commitment—stemming from the historic fraternal relations between SWAPO and the Polisario Front—to continue supporting the struggle of the Sahrawi people to achieve full independence.
