Tifariti University, April 12, 2026 (SPS) – The Dean of Tifariti University, Mr. Moulay Emhamed Ibrahim, received a delegation from the Basque Country at the university headquarters.
The delegation included researchers, students, and youth from civil society organizations.
The Dean praised the delegation’s participation in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Sahrawi state, as well as their close observation of the resilience and sacrifices of the Sahrawi people and the achievements made over the past 50 years, including the establishment of a university under difficult and exceptional circumstances.
He also briefed the delegation on the structure of the university and its intended objectives, in addition to its strategic plan, which is based on three pillars: distance education, scientific research, and international cooperation.
The Dean further provided a detailed explanation of the Scientific Research Center affiliated with Tifariti University (CIUT), which publishes an annual scientific journal, defines research priorities for each academic year, oversees the coordination of academic scientific conferences and seminars, and organizes training sessions for staff of Sahrawi state institutions. The center also hosts students and researchers from international universities to conduct part of their research in the refugee camps.
Members of the delegation expressed their admiration for the efforts made to develop Tifariti University and their readiness to work on coordination to build partnerships with the university, as well as to encourage international researchers to engage in the academic and international activities carried out by Tifariti University.
