Brasilia, 3 March 2026 (SPS) – The Workers’ Party (PT) of Brazil supports the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and full sovereignty over their territory.
In a message of greetings and congratulations addressed to Ambassador Ahmed Mulay Ali on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR), the ruling party in Brazil affirmed its defense of “the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and full sovereignty over their territory, in accordance with various UN resolutions and legal opinions on the matter.”
The message, signed by Edinho Silva, National President of the PT, and Senator Humberto Costa, Secretary of International Relations, “urges governments around the world to recognize the SADR as a full-fledged nation and a member of the United Nations, just as it is already a member of the African Union.”
The PT also reaffirms its support for the POLISARIO Front as the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people.
