Sahrawi Republic takes part in closing of 51st AU PRC session

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 30 January 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Republic took part Friday in the closing session of the 51st ordinary session of the African Union (AU) Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC), held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, under the chairmanship of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Angola, with the participation of delegations from African Union member states.

During the session, the Committee discussed a range of priority issues for the upcoming stage, foremost among them peace and security matters. It reviewed the situation in several conflict-affected regions on the continent and stressed the need to strengthen conflict prevention mechanisms and intensify African mediation efforts in order to ensure stability and enhance regional peace and security.

The Sahrawi Republic was represented at these meetings, which began on 12 and concluded on 30 January, by its Permanent Representative to the African Union and Ethiopia, Ambassador Lamine Baali, along with the Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Malainin Lakhal, who participated alongside representatives of member states in the various discussions throughout the session.
