Majorca (Spain), 26 December 2025 (SPS) – The solidarity movement with the Sahrawi people organized a solidarity vigil in support of the Sahrawi people and their just cause, with the participation of members of parliament and figures supportive of the Sahrawi cause, in addition to the President of the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People in the Balearic Islands, the representative of the Polisario Front in the Balearic Islands, and the Sahrawi community residing in the Balearic Islands.
The solidarity vigil called for the release of all Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.
During the vigil, candles were lit next to photos of Sahrawi political detainees in the prisons of the occupying state of Morocco, national flags were raised, and attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs.
In his speech on the occasion, the Polisario Front representative in the region expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People in the Balearic Islands, which organizes this vigil year after year to denounce cases of enforced disappearance and the repression of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons.
The Polisario Front representative in the Balearic Islands noted that this vigil is held every year to demand justice, freedom, and respect for international legality, which has since 1963 recognized the Sahrawi people’s right to freedom and independence.
For her part, the President of the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People in the Balearic Islands reaffirmed solidarity with the Sahrawi people in their quest for freedom and independence, expressing her condemnation of the position of the Socialist Party government led by Pedro Sánchez, which sides with the occupying state, in total contradiction with international charters and legality.
