Luanda (Angola), 23 November 2025 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, arrived Sunday evening in the Angolan capital, Luanda, to take part in the proceedings of the 7th African Union–European Union Summit.
President Ghali was received at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, António Teté, where a military band presented him with an official honor guard.
The President is accompanied by a delegation that includes: Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs Mohamed Yeslem Beissat; Advisor on Arab World Affairs Nana Labbat Errachid; Ambassador to Angola and Namibia Hamdi El-Khalil Mayara; Advisor to the Presidency Abdati Breika; and the Presidential Protocol Chief, Salha Al-Abd.
The Angolan capital, Luanda, is preparing to host the 7th summit between the European Union and the African Union on 24 and 25 November 2025, under the theme “Enhancing Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism,” with the participation of representatives from member states of both blocs.
The summit will be chaired by the President of Angola, João Lourenço, alongside the President of the European Council, António Costa. Representing the African Union will be the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, while the European Union will be represented by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The summit coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the AU–EU partnership, giving this meeting symbolic significance, as well as with the 50th anniversary of Angola’s independence.
