Madrid, October 2, 2025 (SPS) – A delegation from the General Union of Workers of Saguia el-Hamra and Río de Oro (UGTSARIO), led by its Secretary General, Nafei Ahmed Mohamed, accompanied by the official in charge of Foreign Relations, Cooperation, Media, and Diaspora Affairs, Mohamed Salem Hamma Abdallah, and in the presence of the Head of Political Affairs for the POLISARIO Front Representation in Spain, Salamu Hamudi, held a working meeting with the Spanish Trade Union Confederation of Workers' Commissions (CCOO).
The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of CCOO, Unai Sordo; the Head of Foreign Relations and Cooperation, Cristina Vasyutina; and the Head of Relations with Africa, Asia, the Arab World, and the ILO, Úrsula Alejandra.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations and trade union solidarity ties, which embody consistent support for the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their just cause, as well as ways and means to promote and strengthen trade union action to defend the rights of the Sahrawi people.
Discussions also focused on the human rights situation in occupied Western Sahara, the suffering of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails, the issue of natural resources, and the attempts by the European Union to circumvent the rulings of its Court of Justice of the European Union.
For his part, the Secretary General of CCOO, Unai Sordo, emphasized "the need to redouble efforts in defense of the just Sahrawi cause, particularly in light of the transformations occurring in today's world." He also expressed "his organization's willingness to stand alongside the Sahrawi Workers' Union in all upcoming events."
The two parties developed a joint action plan to strengthen bilateral relations and unify trade union efforts in support of the just struggle of the Sahrawi people and their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
