
New York (United Nations), September 28, 2025 (SPS) – On the sidelines of the high-level General Debate of the 80th ordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Yesslem Beissat, Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, held bilateral meetings with several counterparts from sisterly and friendly countries, as well as with heads of delegations from other countries participating in the work of the General Assembly session, including members of the UN Security Council.
The bilateral discussions focused on ways to enhance bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the Sahrawi Republic and the sisterly and friendly nations. The talks also addressed the latest developments in the national cause in light of upcoming milestones at the United Nations level, and viewpoints were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
The bilateral meetings also served as an opportunity for the foreign ministers to reaffirm their countries' principled and steadfast positions on the Sahrawi issue. They expressed their unconditional support for the Sahrawi Republic and the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and freedom, as well as their countries' determination to continue advocating for the Sahrawi cause in international and continental forums.
The Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs is accompanied during the current session of the UN General Assembly by Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat, Polisario Front Representative to the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, and Mr. Malainin Salama, Advisor at the Polisario Front's Representation to the United Nations.
