Personal Envoy of UN Secretary-General arrives in Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El-Hafed, September 21, 2025 (SPS) - The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, arrived at dawn today at the Sahrawi refugee camps.

This visit is the fifth of its kind by Mr. de Mistura to the Sahrawi side to meet with Sahrawi authorities and discuss the status and prospects of the UN-sponsored peace process in Western Sahara.

The visit's agenda will include a meeting with a group of youth and members of the national leadership, concluding the program with official consultations between the President of the Republic, the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, and the Personal Envoy, Mr. Staffan de Mistura.
